ACCOLADE LODGE MOTEL VISITOR RECOMMENDATIONS
We are happy to help plan and book any of the following attractions free of charge. We also have a very comprehensive free brochure rack located at reception.

MAORI CULTURE
Enjoy an evening packed with entertainment and culture by a proud local Maori group. We highly recommend ‘Mitai Village’ as our personal favourite, but there are many others to choose from each with their own unique styles, such as Te Po, Tamaki, Matariki, Pohutu and more. Bookings are essential and can be made through us at no extra cost.

LOCAL HISTORY
Visit the Buried Village and learn of the historic eruption of Mt Tarawera in 1886 or you can go and see the beautiful Maori carvings that decorate the village church at Ohinemutu Village on Rotorua’s lakefront. At the southern end of Rotorua is Te Puia's cultural centre, which depicts ancient Maori crafts and life as it was pre-European. The Rotorua Museum is situated in the beautiful Government Gardens and displays much of the local culture, arts and history.

THERMAL SIGHTS
This region is famous for its mud pools, thermal springs and geysers. Places to visit are: Te Puia, Hell's Gate, Wai-O-Tapu, Waimangu Valley and Orakei Korako. Take a scenic flight in a float plane/helicopter over Mt Tarawera and the lakes, or visit White Island's live volcano off the coast of New Zealand by seaplane, helicopter or boat.

LAKES & FISHING
Many of the lakes in the Bay of Plenty region have beautiful bush scenery and provide excellent boating and trout fishing. Hook up with one of the many local guides with local knowledge for that ultimate experience.

HIKING & CYCLING
The region has many walking and cycling tracks, and boasts some of the most spectacular green flora scenery in the world. Some of these scenic tracks are located near the Blue Lake, Okere Falls, in the Whakarewarewa Forest Park plus many more around the lakes throughout the region.

ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES
Take a ride on the Gondola up Mt Ngongotaha and have fun on the luge rides, or visit the Agroventure and experience life on the edge. Other thrill-seeking activities such as the Zorb, white-water rafting, hunting, kayaking, golfing, off-roading, skydiving, horse riding, jet-boating and many more are at your disposal.

THERMAL POOLS AND SPAS
Relax and spoil yourself at either Polynesian Spa, QE Spa, Waiora Spa or the Waikite Valley Thermal pools. There are many more therapeutic and cultural spa treatment specialists to choose from in Rotorua.

FREE ACTIVITIES IN ROTORUA
Walk through Kuirau Park close to the city centre, and see the boiling mud pools and steaming ponds. You can even dip your feet in thermal water at a designated area. Take a relaxing stroll around the Government Gardens. This is always worth a visit. Visit the Okere Falls, just a short drive to the northern end of Lake Rotorua.

Take a drive around the beautiful scenic lakes in the Rotorua region, or venture further by stopping to trek along the many walking tracks dotted along the way. Walk through the Redwoods at Whakarewarewa Forest Park and be spellbound by the size of these majestic redwood trees.Or maybe a dip in a warm thermal spring with the locals is your thing.
